XD i love nana manga.. maybe i'm a shipper for shojo.. but i really love the realism of the story.. it's not all about romance.. i think it's also about the future they wanna build.. If it was a harem situation, Shuurei would be one of many women pining for Ryuuki, or Ryuuki would be one of many men trying to gain Shuurei's attention. Ouran, too, is not really a harem because to be a harem you need to have a harem master who the harem fawn over/impede, and with Ouran we do not have that, although it does parody the format somewhat. I think Utaware is far more harem than those too shows; the harem side is at least as prominent as the whole war thing. Haku is a raging lolicon.
